چکیده

In this paper we maximize the utility of a structural model of the demand for multi-destination non-work travel using maximum entropy method introduced by Shanon. A utility value is assigned when only partial information is available about the decision maker’s preferences. The maximum entropy utility solution embeds a large family of utility functions that includes the most commonly used functional form. The model presented here incorporate travel frequency, destination choice and mode choice for both single and multi-destination travel into a unified utility-maximizing framework.

Developing a New Algorithm for a Utility-based Network Design Problem with Elastic Demand

Developing the infrastructures for preventing non-communicable diseases is one of the most important goals of healthcare context in recent years. In this regard, the number and capacity of preventive healthcare facilities as well as assignment of customers to facilities should be determined for each region. Besides the accessibility, the utility of customers is a determinative factor in partici...

Developing an urban congestion pricing model by considering sustainability improvement and using a multi-objective optimization approach

This paper introduces a Travel Demand Management (TDM) model in order to decrease the transportation externalities by affecting on passengers’travel choices. Thus, a bi-objective bi-modal optimization model for road pricing is developed aiming to enhance environmental and social sustainability by considering to minimize the air pollution and maximize the social welfare as its objectives. This m...

A Novel Method for Travel System Patterns

Due to population growth in urban areas, especially in the capital cities in developing countries, the use of private vehicles are increasing, leading to many problems such as congestion, pollution, noise, long travel time, high travel cost and more side effects. In such circumstances government policy would encourage people to use public transportation. In the meantime, employing the Intellige...

Different Network Performance Measures in a Multi-Objective Traffic Assignment Problem

Traffic assignment algorithms are used to determine possible use of paths between origin-destination pairs and predict traffic flow in network links. One of the main deficiencies of ordinary traffic assignment methods is that in most of them one measure (mostly travel time) is usually included in objective function and other effective performance measures in traffic assignment are not considere...

Bi-objective optimization of multi-server intermodal hub-location-allocation problem in congested systems: modeling and solution

A new multi-objective intermodal hub-location-allocation problem is modeled in this paper in which both the origin and the destination hub facilities are modeled as an M/M/m queuing system. The problem is being formulated as a constrained bi-objective optimization model to minimize the total costs as well as minimizing the total system time. A small-size problem is solved on the GAMS software t...
